Young Communist League of South Africa celebrate Mabaxa

The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) hosted a memorial lecture to celebrate the life of Vuyani Mabaxa at the Diepkloof Multipurpose Hall.

A documentary showing the life of Vuyani Mabaxa through the eyes of his life and family was shown.

Vuyani Mabaxa was born in Chis Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital on December 17 1967.

He attended Namedi Secondary School where he became an active member of the Congress of the South African Students (Cosas).

Mabaxa was killed in 1991. In the middle of the Diepkloof Extreme Park is the Vuyani Mabaxa Memorial.

Amos Monyela from the YCLSA praised Mabaxa.

“Mabaxa was a great leader. He is sung in struggle songs and many ANC branch and regional structures are named after him,” he said.
