Another body found

A small community across Bushkoppies is living in fear as another body has been found in an open field, in the space of two months.

Khayalethu Jaca was found two days after his disappearance with four stab wounds and a deep gash at the back of his head.

Khayalethu was last seen going to an ATM in Eldorado Park before his body was discovered by his cousin.

“The family are trying to stay strong but it is difficult for us,” Yoliswa Zinyanga, a relative of the 24 year old said.

The community is situated in a secluded area where the closest shopping centre with ATM’s is about five kilometres away.

Residents have to walk through the vast and dark field to a highway where they get public transport.

“Many of the people who lived here were also killed while crossing the highway,” Zinyanga said.

She said that they hardly see police patrolling the area but the community has three patrollers who also fear for their lives.

Eldorado Park CPF chairperson, Victor Olivier said he is willing to listen to the concerns of the community and will make sure that patrollers are provided and regularly seen.

“I will have a meeting with the community where we can discuss a way forward,” he said.

Olivier is in the process of providing the community with emergency contact and sector police numbers.

Jaca will be laid to rest in the Eastern Cape.

He leaves behind a seven month old baby and his wife.
