Bloom hands over toilet

Vlakfontein Build It donates material for toil

The DA MPL Jack Bloom has officially handed over ta toilet that was built by party representatives including councillor Tshililo Radzilani.

The toilet was built for a poor family in Doornkop informal settlement.

DA’s initial plan was to buy the necessary toilet material at the local hardware but instead the material was donated to them by Marco Gomes, the owner of the Vlakfontein Build It.

DA’s Jack Lorimer said” We had planned to buy the material from our pockets but store management at Build it volunteered to help us make the project happen by donating the material.

Material cost was R3 800.

Lorimer said almost all the areas Bloom has visited have a problem of housing or toilets.

He said” We’ve realised that sanitation is an issue not only in this informal settlement, but in other areas we’ve been to.

On Heritage Day, a toilet was built in Protea and a shack was also built in Doornkop informal settlement by the DA.

Lorimer said all these activities have nothing to do with the elections but just reaching out to the people.

“We are not trying to win over the people but we do what government fails to correct for the people,” said Lorimer.

Radzilani said he is thankful for the support showed by residents.

“We are appreciative to DA reps that do most of the heavy work on the ground.

He said that they are going to be painting the toilet very soon.
