Residents were reminded about the importance of testing for different diseases and illnesses at a breast cancer awareness campaign held at Ithuteng Home.
Pap smear, hypertension, diabetes and HIV were tested.
Health promoter, Paul Lesu encourages people to be health conscious.
“Some people do not pay attention to campaigns and health messages or warnings.
“It is important to do so for them to stabilise a possible disease and treat it,” he said.
Co-ordinator at Candy Matsimbi said health campaigns are important because they get to share information with the community.
“Through such initiatives we give the community factual and beneficial information.
“Most people are misled by myths in the community,” Matsimbi said.
Lesu said it is better for people to know what is wrong with them so as to get the necessary help before something drastic such as death is caused by their ignorance.
