Woman forced to carry dead baby

“It took seven days for the doctors to induce labour."

Warda Lucas a grandmother, was left deeply distressed about the health of her granddaughter after the baby she was carrying died and the hospital took seven days to induce labour.

“It took seven days for the doctors to induce labour.

“We rushed her to hospital, where we had to wait for doctors to help,

“The doctors and the nurse didn’t tell us anything, we only found out later that she had a stillborn,” said Lucas

Mid-Wife Lesley Rose said, “Having a stillborn may be one of the hardest outcomes of any woman’s pregnancy.”

The medical field definition of having a stillbirth is the birth of a baby who is born without any signs of life at or after 24 weeks pregnancy.

A stillborn may also occur when the pregnancy is around 20 weeks.

When a baby dies in the womb, the sad truth is that the mother still has to go through with the birth naturally.

“An operation is the last option, because the birth needs to be as natural as possible,” said Rose.

“The procedure to induce labour may take anything from three to six weeks, not all hospital s will be able to admit the patient but daily check-ups will be done during this time,” said Rose.

The doctors will only induce the birthing process, only when they are sure the mother’s body is ready.

“The desperate the need of knowing how this could happen is the grieving cycle the mother would need to go through, the autopsy would have more answers,” said Rose.
