Youth Desk Interim committee chosen

The Diepkloof Youth Crime Prevention Desk's new committee will be in office for the next five years.

The Diepkloof Youth Crime Prevention Desk (DYCPD) held a general meeting on Saturday to choose their interim committee.

The committee will be in leadership for the next five years.

Three candidates were chosen for the chairperson seat and Motome Poloko won the seat uncontested.

Poloko said that he is ready for the challenge.

“I feel good about being elected the chairperson and I am ready to bring change to the youth of the community.

“I am planning to work with the police sector managers to identify the youth who are involved in crime and drugs.

“After identifying the youth I plan to talk with them and give them an alternative way of living and take them off the streets,” he said.

Poloko said that his plan for the future is to fix sports facilities.

“Involving the youth in sports will take them off the streets. We will be holding a public meeting with the youth soon to tell them about the DYCPD plans for the next five years,” he said.

The DYCPD is situated at the police station at room 14.
