Members want executive to resign

Members of the Greater Meadowlands Community Policing Forum (GMCPF) have had it with the executive of the forum and want it to step down.

In a meeting last Thursday, patrollers for different sectors in Meadowlands expressed their anger at how badly they had been treated and gave their reasons as to why the executive needed to ship out.

Sector One chairperson, Sammy Mkhize said GMCPF had fallen apart and the meeting was called to restore what they stand for.

Division, power struggle and mismanagement of funds, the lack of respect, commitment and communication were some of the issues on the agenda.

These issues were not all discussed because of hostile residents and the sensitive issues.

The members agreed that the executive was failing them by not doing what need to be done.

A patroller, Shezi said: “The mandate of the CPF is to fight crime.

“Crime statistics in the area are too high.

“We wake up in the early hours in the morning to work for our community but we are not appreciated.

“The executive has really failed us, they were not even democratically elected into office.

“They are worried about money while the community suffers from the wrath of crime.”

The meeting ended in agreement that members would follow a procedure that would ensure that the executive step down.
