Naledi Youth Desk skills and development expo

The Naledi Youth Crime Prevention Desk held their skills and development expo at Naledi Hall, last Thursday.

The aim of the expo was to serve as a plartform for giving back to young people the necessary
skills that will keep them away from getting involved in crime.

Gauteng Community Safety Communications Officer Mandla Mhlophe said the career expo is an initiative to motivate and encourage youth to
participate in community development projects.

Most of young people in our area lack information and are the ones who do not attend such events due to ignorance

“This is a good initiative that the youth desk has come up with and they must always do such activities in their areas.
“Residents must participate in such initiative in order to bring more community development programmes in Soweto.

“Such events are done for them to come and gain information about what is happening in their areas and other community projects that taking
place in their areas,” he said.

Naledi youth desk deputy chairperson Mabel Khoza said the community must stand up and make a leaving out of themselves because nothing will come on their way while they doing nothing in their communities.
“People must know that carpentry, sewing, beads making, car fixing are being done in Naledi and Emndeni in order for them to gain skills.

“Most of young people in our area lack information and are the ones who do not attend such events due to ignorance, but they are the ones who will benefit from it if they attend them,” she said.

Khoza said they invited people from the Emergency Management Service (EMS), nurses, police and skills workers to train people.
“We want the next event to be big and we also need sponsors in order for us to invite everyone in the community to gain information,” she said.
