Residents invited to Soweto Innovation Week

Soweto to host Innovation week, a first of its kind.

The Soweto Innovation Week will start from April 8 to 10 and will be held at The Soweto Theatre in Jabulani.

Soweto Innovation Week is designed to ensure and maintain activities for stimulating the generation and prototyping of ideas, as well as for identifying future tech, innovation and social entrepreneurs.

The Soweto Innovation Week, organised by Soweto Innovation and Development Centre, and powered by Soweto Wireless User Group and the Internet Society, Gauteng Chapter, is a premier conference, first of its kind in Soweto, that is set to showcase local and existing innovations in different spheres of the mainstream economy.

Soweto Innovation Week will promote and create a platform for entrepreneurs, innovators, academics and the general community of Soweto to showcase their innovations and obtain advice on how to take their innovations into the market, collaborate and interact with investors, innovators and other entrepreneurs in the innovation and invention space.

“Soweto Innovation Week’s purpose is to provide technology and digital knowledge, inspiration and skills to attendees.

“This is key as the three day conference is the first of its kind in any South African township and also because Africa is the next frontier where the next wave of technology and digital innovation is expected to come from, not to mention the forecasted high growth of internet penetration on the continent,” said Refilwe Segopa deputy chairperson.
