Petrol increase

Petrol price hike for third time this year.

The petrol price has had its third increase since the beginning of this year.

This latest rise took place last week Wednesday, bringing petrol price up by 36 cents per litre from its previous escalation of 39 cents per litre last month.

Motorists might face more troubles in the near future as the fuel price might go up due to the petrol levy which is set to take place in April.

Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan, in his 2014/2015 budget speech, said in recognition of recent increases in the imported cost of fuel, the general fuel levy increase is limited to an inflation-related 12 cents per litre on April 2.

The road accident fund levy will also increase by eight cents per litre.
