Driver reported missing, taxi found stripped

The Krugersdorp Police are appealing to the community to help them find a missing taxi driver after his vehicle was found stripped in Soweto.

Krugersdorp Police detectives are currently investigating the disappearance of 37-year-old taxi driver, Kagiso Mosaka.

Mosaka went missing on June 18 and was last seen by one of the taxi marshals at the Munsieville taxi rank.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Captain Raymond Sebonyane said it is alleged the victim came to drop off passengers from Johannesburg and then left. He was driving a Toyota Quantum with registration number YMB 795 GP.

“Allegedly the owner of the taxi also received a message from a tracking company at 18:35 that same day to say the vehicle was driving into a high-risk area. He tried to call Mosaka but unfortunately the phone went straight to voice mail.”

The vehicle was later found stripped in Meadowland in Soweto, but the victim was nowhere to be found.

Mosaka has a coffee brown complexion, is tall and slim.

“We are appealing to the public to assist with information that could lead to tracing the victim. Anyone with information can contact the Krugersdorp Police on 011 951 1152, alternatively contact the investigating officer, detective Captain Peter Morake on 082 447 3545 or 011 951 1062,” Captain Sebonyane said.
