Mogase Died on Freedom Day in hospital.

In memory of the late struggle stalwart and City of Johannesburg’s first democratic Mayor Isaac Mogase, South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) Zone 10 and ANC hosted a memorial service at the Diepkloof Hall on Monday, May 3, to honour him for the role he played in the community struggles in Soweto.

The memorial service saw friends, family, and comrades gather to celebrate the life of the man who was mostly described by those who spoke as a selfless servant of the city who was actively involved and played an important role in the community.

Every speaker had a lot to say about him, if it was possible, they would have a day-long memorial service but time was not on their side. Mogase passed away on Freedom Day, April 27, and everything that was said about him is testimony to the fact that Ntate Mogase was always a leader who was committed to being grounded with the people.
