Man arrested for the death of a woman found in an open veld in Doornkop
The suspect has been arrested on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Doornkop police officers arrested an African male suspect following intensive investigation. It is believed that the suspect might have been involved or can provide information concerning the death of an unknown African female who was in her 30s, her body was found in an open veld at Snake Park block 9 on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
It has been discovered that the African male was in a romantic relationship with the deceased for two weeks. “It is alleged that they met in Johannesburg CBD and lived together in that two weeks until it led to the death of the lady. It is said that he used a dustbin to dump the body of the deceased in an open veld.” Said Contable Vusi Thokwan of Dobsonville police station.
The suspect has been arrested on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice. He appeared in court on Thursday, April 22, and the case was given a reminder. The suspect is now under police custody and is expected to make his second appearance on May 18.
“Since the rising in the killing of women and children in our country, we have taken it upon ourselves to come with a strategy to raise awareness campaigns, where people will be encouraged not to stay in toxic relationships. If he is your partner can have the courage to lay his hands on you, he is capable of killing you one day.” Said Thokwan.
Residents are therefore encouraged to report any crime taking place at their nearest police station. “If you feel that you are emotionally, financially, and physically abused, feel free to report it at your nearest police station.” He concluded.
