Voter registration weekend

First time voters have February 8 and 9 to register to vote in the 2014 elections.

You only need to register once unless you have moved or your voting station has changed.-

Only South African citizens who have a green bar-coded ID, smartcard or temporary id certificate, can register to vote.-

Those who register should be at least 16 years old but can only vote from 18 years old.-

Registration is open from 8am and closes at 5pm. The following venues will be set up as voting stations in Eldorado Park and Klipspruit:-

– Elridge Primary School-

– Cavendish Primary School-

– Saint Euegene De Mazenod Catholic Church-

– Parkdale Primary School-

– Delrado Primary School-

– Kliptown Secondary School-

– Kliptown Ebenezer Congregational Church-

– Eldomaine High School-

– JD Opperman Recreation Centre-

– Florida Primary School-

– Lanceavale Secondary School-

– Boekenhout Primary School-

– Eldorado Park Primary School-

– Kliptown Community Centre-

– Saint Ives Primary School-

– Home of the Paseo Baptist Church-

– Firethorn Primary School-

You can also contact the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) call centre on 0800 11 8000 Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm or make a telephonic appointment to apply for registration at the Municipal Electoral Office.-

When registering, you should have your green bar-coded ID, smartcard or Temporary Identity Certificate. Once you have applied, your ID will be scanned and a bar-coded sticker will be placed in it. The bar-coded sticker does not mean that that you are registered, it indicates that you have applied for registration. The application may take up to seven working days. To see your registration status:-

– send and sms with your ID number to 32810-

– log on to https://www.elections.org.za/content/For-voters/My-voter-registration-details/-

– contact the IEC call centre –

– find out from the voting station during the registration weekend or Municipal Electoral Office.
