One-day drop-off campaign in Diepkloof

The campaign aim to generate school uniform and stationery to be distributed in local schools.

Tinyiko Vhukeya (25) from Diepkloof Zone 4 has decided to offer a helping hand to the community. She has planned a one-day drop-off campaign taking place today, at different venues in Diepkloof such as Chilli Pepper, Nine Eight Five (985), and Spelas Inn from 12 pm to 5 pm.

Vhukeya is pleading with the community to donate school uniforms for any local school and stationery to help make a difference in the lives of learners living in underprivileged circumstances.

“Growing up I realised that people came from different backgrounds and unfortunately some learners even quit school due to lack of school uniform, shoes, or stationery.

“I witnessed a few learners becoming dropouts and bullies due to their surrounding circumstances. As a community health worker graduate I then realised that if we stand united as a community, we can fight this. We can ensure that we help those in need so that they don’t as though they are less of humans,” she said.

“The Right to education is a basic right of any child living in South Africa. Not having a school uniform leaves a child more vulnerable and can disturb their focus. This could be detrimental to their future,” she added.

“I have faith that the day will be a successful one, and it will leave a lasting impact on the kids’ lives,” she concluded.
