The senior citizens of Noordgesig enjoyed a lovely outing at Fun Valley thanks to the efforts of Ubuntu Ladies Club.
The club was formed nine years ago with the intention of making a difference in the lives of the senior citizens of Noorgesig.
When the club initially started the ladies had no financial support and had to take out the money from their own pockets.
Thanks to the generosity of three good Samaritans the senior citizens of Noordgesig were able to have a fun filled day.
Noordgesig Shoprite also came on board and donated two big cakes.
For the past nine years the ladies of Ubuntu Ladies Club have done what they can to make sure that they do something special for the senior citizens of Noordgesig.
“We normally have lunch at the Noordesig Hall but we realised that the hall is too small and we wanted them to see something different hence we decided to take them to Fun Valley.
“Some of our senior citizens don’t have children or their children are unemployed so they never get the opportunity to go out and have fun,” said Chairperson Mearle Ferland.
Ferland said that the club plans to go on more outings in the future.
“We want to do what we can as a club, to make sure that our senior citizens enjoy their golden years,” she said.
