An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old boy last Wednesday.
The police said the boy was watching TV at a neighbour’s when he was asked by the accused to accompany him to the toilet.
“It is alleged that the accused raped the boy in the toilet and thereafter gave him R2.
“The accused’s sister witnessed it happening.
“The uncle of the victim was informed and the case was immediately reported.”
Communications officer, Sibusiso Chauke encourages the community to report rape cases and not keep quiet and hope for families to sort it out.
“Rape is a very serious crime, it cannot be dealt with in any other way, the law needs to intervene,” he said.
The accused appeared at the Protea Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The case was postponed to January 21.
