Thanduxolo Jindela, Mshoza’s Manager has confirmed the ultimate death of Nomasonto “Mshoza” Maswanganyi.

Jindela said that the Queen of Kwaito was rushed to a Johannesburg Hospital last night and succumbed to diabetes-related complications.Â

“She will be deeply missed as an ultimate entertainer who loved being on stage. Not only did she radiate star quality, Mshoza was a media darling.”

Kwaito star Mshoza, real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi passed away at a Johannesburg Hospital today aged 37. News of her passing broke this morning and saw social media mourning her death.

Her close friend Khanyi Mbau confirmed the news today on her Instagram page. Details around her death are still unknown at this stage as her family is yet to release a statement.

Holding the title as the First Lady of Kwaito, Maswanganyi started as a dancer for a Kwaito Group ‘Chiskop’ and later ventured into music when she was discovered on Jam Alley and also featured on Mzambiya’s EP.

She released numerous records and her hits include; Kortes, Hlaba Lingene, Abantu bam Laba, and Ayina Corus to name a few.

She is survived by her two children.
