Three suspects arrested for possession of illegal firearms

The suspects were immediately arrested.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 spotted two men who were displaying suspicious behaviour along Golden Highway, between Golden Highway and Eldorado Park.

According to the report from Wayne Minnaar, spokesperson of JMPD, the two suspects were seen in the vicinity of a bus and taxi rank and were walking toward passengers as if they were looking for an easy target that they could rob.

“The officers approached the suspects and searched for a white bag which the one was carrying. Inside the bag was an unlicensed revolver, the suspects were immediately arrested and charged at Eldorado Park Police Station for possession of an unlicensed firearm.”

“In a separate incident on Saturday night, JMPD K9 Unit assisted the Sedibeng Anti-hijacking Unit and arrested one male suspect at a house in Sebokeng who was in possession of a white Toyota minibus with a chassis number which was tampered with.

Two illegal firearms were also recovered, and booked in at Vereeniging Police Station,” said Minnaar.
