Orlando police would like to warn the community to be careful when walking at the railway station in New Canada near the stream, as there have been a number of rape cases reported since the beginning of Lockdown.

According to the Orlando police spokesperson, Monica Hangwani females should avoid walking in that area as it is not safe for them.

She stated that they are currently investigating a case of rape that took place on Monday, August 10th, at about 18:09 where it is alleged by the victim that she was walking with his boyfriend between the railway station and New Canada next to a stream when they came across three males who pointed them with firearms and the demanded phones and money.

She further stated that the victim gave them what they wanted and they walked away with her boyfriend.

When the victim pleaded with the suspects to give her cellphone back, one of the suspects told her that she must pay for it.

It is alleged that she told them she doesn’t have money and one suspect undresses her and they took turns in raping her.

Constable Hangwani appealed to anyone with information that can help with the arrest of the three suspects to contact Orlando Saps on 011 087 1456.

Meanwhile, the Orlando SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder that took place on August 29 at around 19:40.

It is alleged that the complainant was driving his white Renault Cleo with his wife and child.

The statement released by Orlando Spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwani states that the victim stopped at a stop sign where he was approached by two males driving a BMW and he alleges that he heard them saying this is the car they were looking for.

The statement further stated that he then drove away and heard a gunshot while driving. Hangwani said the complainant’s car was shot on the boot and lucky no one was injured.
