World Cup trophy to bring back memories

The World Cup trophy is expected to arrive in the country on Sunday at Lanseria Airport.

The FIFA World Cup trophy makes a return to South Africa on Sunday as part of a global tour organised by Coca-Cola.

The trophy brings back memories of the finals which were played in the country in 2010.

The Coca-Cola Company and FIFA partnered in this trophy tour campaign that will visit 88 countries.

The tour started in September and will end in May.

South Africans will have a chance to see and be seen with the trophy at the Southgate Shopping Centre on December 2 and 3 from 11am to 7pm each day.

Fans will have an opportunity to have their pictures taken with the world’s trophy.

Former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates legend, Edward Motale said he thinks South Africans should remember that time of the World Cup 2010 as something really positive for the country, both in a sporting sense and the way the World Cup brought everybody together to cheer on Bafana Bafana.

“We should be very proud of what we achieved as a nation during the World Cup and it has left a legacy for our football that has helped to improve the sport in this country,” said Motale.

The trophy is expected to arrive in the country tomorrow at Lanseria Airport.
