Divine Interventions at Riverlea High School

According to Constable Kraai, every week the group will go to the other schools in the Riverlea community.

A partnership between the Kingdom Empowerment Network (KEN) which is formed by the local churches and the Langlaagte police crime prevention unit brought the group together at Riverlea High School for the first Divine Intervention initiative for the year.

This took place the morning of January 29 where the Langlaagte police officers, Bishop Eugene Sinclair, pastor Shaun Jegels and social workers addressed the Grade 8 and Grade 12 learners.

Pastor Jegels shared: “Divine Intervention started about a year ago but I think we were a bit close from our side but towards the end of last year, everything started working nicely together with the ministries and SAPS.

“The community is looking at SAPS to come and change the community, to take away crime but we as the church say no, it is not up to SAPS, it is up to the community and the church because only God can make a change in our community, that is why Divine Intervention was started.”

Pastor Jegels shared with the learners: “You guys are used to having SAPS having raids but today but we as pastors are going pray here for you guys so that you can become successful in everything you do in your life.”

Jegels read scripture to the learners and then Constable Julian du Plessis who is a former learner at the school spoke to the learners about bullying and having a small problem which creates bigger issues in life and how choices can change one’s life. Bishop Eugene Sinclair then said a prayer with the learners.

According to Constable Kraai, every week the group will go to the other schools in the Riverlea community and then according to Pastor Jegels, they will be able to reach more learners and more schools once more ministries join in.
