Eldos teen takes modelling world by storm

17-year-old Aphile Carter is a force to be reckoned with. Born and bred in Eldorado Park, Carter dreams of walking the runways of Milan, Europe, and Paris.

Raised by his Grandmother, Mother and Sister, Carter describes himself as a creative who is passionate about art and entertainment.

“I have always loved art, I see art in everything and I truly believe that art allows us to express ourselves,” said Carter. Having started modelling only a year ago, Carter has a lot to be proud of.

“It’s hasn’t been an easy journey, modelling teaches you a lot of patience, doors won’t automatically open for you, like everything in life, you need to put in the work if you want to be successful,” he added.

“What I love most about modelling is the fact that each piece of clothing tells a story, as a model wearing that garment it’s your responsibility to tell that story, I love the thrill of it,” he added.

Carter recently walked the runway of the Africa Fashion International (AFI)Fashion Week that was held at the Sandton Convention Centre on October 11 and 12. Cater was selected to model for Three international designers namely Laurence Airlies, Ellen Madie and Eric Raisina.

“Having been selected as a model to walk to AFI runway was honestly a dream come true for me. It was an experience I will carry with me forever. It was amazing,” said Carter.

When asked how he juggles school Carter said that this year has taught him about sacrifice.

“I am in Matric, currently writing my final exams but I am making it work because I make the time. I have learned to compromise and to make sacrifices,” said Carter.

“Even though modelling is my passion I believe that it is important to have education so I plan to pursue a Degree in Journalism after Matric,” he added. Carter also said that he has a love for fashion.

‘My message to the youngsters in my community is that they should be consistent with everything they do. Put in the work, go out there, knock on doors, be different and grab opportunities that come your way,” said Carter.
