Eldos Cavendish Primary School receives trophy at Gauteng Scholar Patrol awards

Primary schools from across Gauteng were acknowledged with Eldocrest primary and Freedom primary representing the Greater Eldorado Park community.

The Gauteng Scholar Patrol Awards was held at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium on Thursday, September 5. The aim of the event was to promote road safety and ensure the safety of learners in and around schools.

Primary schools from across Gauteng were acknowledged with Eldocrest primary and Freedom primary representing the Greater Eldorado Park community.

Dineo Maseko from the Department of Community Safety was present at the event and said that scholar patrol is an important part of road safety education and essential to enhancing the safety of scholars at their schools.


The Eldorado Traffic Solutions remains to committed to ensuring road safety.

“Not only does it regulate traffic, improve speed calming and facilitate safe crossing of the road but it also instils in the minds of our young pedestrians an awareness of the importance of road safety,” said Maseko.

Michelle Gardner, founder of the Eldorado Park Traffic Solutions (EPTS) accompanied the schools and said that the event went well and that learners walked away feeling motivated and ready to promote road safety within their schools and communities.

“All the learners who participated were extremely happy and that created a good atmosphere. Events like this are important. The government should continue to acknowledge our children’s efforts in creating a safer environment. The Eldorado Park Traffic Solutions was honoured to be a part of the event,” said Gardner. “EPTS is committed to educating residents in Eldorado Park about the importance of road safety,” she added.

Scholar Patrollers across Gauteng were acknowledged and encouraged for the work they do on a daily basis.

“They received medals, certificates and Cavendish Primary School received a trophy for having a clean audit. Their file adheres to the requirements set by Road Traffic Management Cooperation. They have been consistent in their work,” said Maseko.

“Unfortunately, not all the schools could attend due to the recent violence in certain areas. From the Greater Eldorado Park community, only Cavendish primary and Freedom primary were present. St. Ives Primary could not attend,” Maseko concluded.
