Five suspects arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition

"The Langlaagte police management would like to recommend these members for making sure that these firearms are off the streets of Johannesburg,” concluded Constable Kraai.

Four males and one female have been arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition within the Langlaagte precinct.

Communication’s officer Constable Phumi Kraai from the Langlaagte police station released the following report on September 6.

According to the report, the Langlaagte police’s Crime Prevention members and the Johannesburg K-9-unit members were patrolling along church street in Amalgam when a white ford range with no registration plates both front and rear overtook them in high speed.

Constable Kraai added: “the members acted swiftly and called for back up as this ford ranger looked suspicious with five (5) occupants inside. The Crime Preventions members and the Johannesburg K9 unit members managed to pull the car over and search the occupants and the vehicle.”

The report states that two unlicensed firearms and ammunition were discovered.

“The five suspects were detained at Langlaagte police station for being in the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
