Cervical cancer survivor Jubeida Wilson tells her story on her ‘Testimony Of Faith’ book
'Your struggles don't have to define you'
Thlosane Masinga, who is also known as Jubeida Wilson, is a Pastor, writer, motivational speaker, a God fearing woman, a mother of 12 and a grandmother of 19. Born on the outskirts of Mozambique on October 29, 1964 Wilson believes that she was chosen by God, to share her story in hopes to broaden the perspectives of people.
Having been a community worker for 37 years, Wilson’s work focuses on alleviating poverty through the help of friends and partnerships made in America.
“My journey to America was not an easy one. I lived a difficult life, designed to destroy me but with faith in God and perseverance my life completely turned around. I am proud of my story even though it is painful,” said Wilson.
“My journey began when I was five years old. I will never forget having to cross the Crocodile River and witnessing loved ones being eaten right in front of my eyes. That is when the pain began,” said Wilson added.
At only 11-years-old, Wilson was married and became a mother only a few months later. She educated herself by reading all kinds of books throughout her life. “Reading was an outlet for me. It expanded my perception and allowed me to stay open minded and positive within any situation,” she said.
“I grew up in an era where talking out of the house was not allowed so I remained quiet, accepted the pain and the abuse because I simply did not know better. I then started writing about what was happening to me and it became evident that my story, no matter how heart-wrenching needed to be told,” she added.
After surviving cervical cancer Wilson decided to completely change her life around. “That is when my community work began. I decided to live. After years of feeding the community by God’s grace I connected with Americans and I became a jet setter, telling my story at various conferences across the world” said Wilson.
