12-year-old from Eldos off to Portugal in need of financial aid

The family is short of R6800 to cover his full travel amount which is R35 000.

Lindré Van Kramberg, a 12-year-old from Eldorado Extension Four has big dreams of becoming a professional soccer player, and it seems he is well on his way.

The youngster, who attends school at Milnerton Primary, started playing soccer at the age of four and a half.

“We entered him into the Bosmont local football association with Vans Sporting Academy playing the U/9 division, he was awarded top goal scorer at a team presentation,” said Nadine Van Kramberg, who is his mother. “The following season the team moved to Jowest local football association where he played U/8 and managed to score every other week in league matches,” she added.

“At age nine he was selected to play for Wits juniors where he played U/10 and was the only natural left footed player in the division, playing in a tougher league didn’t seem to scare him away from scoring goals. He then moved back to Vans Sporting Academy, at this stage registered in Rand Central Local Football Association, because the team needed him in the U/11 division,” said Patrick van Kramberg, his father.

Dré, as he is known amongst his peers, was selected for the U/10 district team, but due to finances could not travel with the team to various tournaments around the country in 2017/18 season.

An opportunity then arose for players to attend the Iber Cup under 12 tournaments in Estoril Portugal and we as his parents decided to start raising funds to send Dré with the district team,” said his mother, Nadine. “We are currently short of R6800 to cover his full travel amount which is R35 000,” she added.

The team will be participating in the Iber cup in Portugal, leaving South Africa on June 28 and returning on July 8. “We are extremely proud of Lindré achievements this far, he has made us proud parents without a doubt, it’s a bit overwhelming to let our baby travel abroad by himself but we know he will go out there and do only his best and make this trip a huge success,” said his mother.

“As a father whose passion is soccer it’s one of the greatest joys ever experienced, and as a coach seeing him grow from a young age to where he is now and hearing every coach he’s playing under compliment hiss soccer discipline, I am blown away and very proud,” said his father.
