IEC to investigate allegations of election fraud
Election results keep trickling in as political parties and the electoral commission discuss allegations of election fraud.
The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa has assured the country of the integrity of the electoral process. This comes after social media reports about some voters committing election fraud by voting more than once.
Political parties such as the Inkatha Freedom Party have submitted a formal report to the electoral commission about these allegations of fraud.
“Two separate instances have been brought to the attention of the Electoral Commission over the past few hours in which it is alleged voters were able to cast more than one vote at different voting stations.
“The Commission views these allegations in the most serious light and has launched investigations into these incidents,” says the IEC in a statement released last night.

The Electoral commission was supposed to hold a media briefing at 11:00 today to give an update but it was postponed owing to a meeting with political parties to address issues of election fraud.
While the IEC investigate allegations of fraud, the counting of votes is in full swing across the country.
With about 35% of votes already counted at midday today, the ANC was still leading the pack with the DA and EFF following behind respectively.
The Freedom Front Plus has surprised many South Africans by making it to number four of the national tally enjoying about 3% support.
