SAPS and security companies ensuring a safer community.

Sophiatown police with security companies such as ADT Fidelity, Beagle Watch and SCP held a joint awareness programme at the Westdene Dam.

According to captain Jerbes de Bruyn who is the communications officer of the Sophiatown Police Station the aim of the awareness programme was to distribute pamphlets with safety tips and warnings of alcohol abuse to residents, and more especially students living in the area.

“The Sophiatown police cares for the safety of the community and therefore this initiative was taken to ensure a safer community for all and that is why the security forum as members of the security sector also plays a vital role in combating crime.

“It is through this partnership that we at Sophiatown police appeal to all security companies in the Sophiatown police precinct to come and join this initiative and join the security forum,” said de Bruyn.

Companies that are interested in joining the security forum can contact the office of the Vispol commander during office hours on 011 670 6398.

The forum meetings will take place every Monday at 12 pm where crime in the area will be discussed along with solutions to stopping the crimes, this will take place at the Sophiatown Police Station ground floor room 014.
