EnviroParks gives a thumbs up to 87 students after course completion

EnviroParks has graduation for the Class of 2018.

EnviroParks, a registered non-government organisation in Riverlea has been offering skills development for years now. Many classes have passed and the Class of 2018 had their graduation day on February 8.

With facilitator Simthembile Gama and centre manager Vida Minnaar the 87 students received their certificates at the Riverlea Recreation Centre.

According to Minnaar, the 87 students come from two different classes from last year. The first class completed the course in September and the second completed their course in December.

“Our training is a three-month programme so we start off with life skills, then end-user computer training which includes the entire Microsoft package and then when we are done there, we do the call centre training. I am pleased and proud to announce that our call centre training is accredited as well as end-user computer training.”

“We do not give a certificate according to attendance but rather a certificate of competency. When the students complete the call centre training, they get 128 credits alone,” explained Minnaar.

The only requirements for the course are for you to have Grade 10, 11, or 12 and classes are every Monday to Friday.

When asked how she felt about the Class of 2018 graduating, Minaar said: “I feel absolutely proud of these youngsters, as I said to them that the world is their oyster and that things might not seem bright for them but they should take initiative, this is a proud moment.”

“We have more students that are currently signed up to the new classes, we have about 56 students, some of them are just out matric, they couldn’t go study further but they are so enthusiastic about the programme so the next graduation will be bigger.”

For more information on the free classes, you can contact the centre on 011 474 6750.
