A salute to our brave men and women in blue
Police officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty were honoured during the Police National Day celebration in Longdale.
National Police Day was on January 27 and has been a National Day since 2005. It is a day where policemen and policewomen are recognised for all that they do and to also honour those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Over the years, many in the policing department had started their year with some sort of celebration, some with awards to honour police officers who have served for many years, some have meetings with residents from the communities they serve in to find out where they can improve, no matter what it may be, these events usually also mark the official start of the new year for the force.
This year, the Langlaagte police officers took a different approach to their official opening and a day where they celebrated the annual National Police Day.
According to communications officer Phumi Kraai from the Langlaagte Police station, their management, community patrollers and the Zamimpilo community celebrated the 2019 National Police Day taking an approach of divine intervention at the Grace Bible Church in Longdale (Industria).
“The Langlaagte police management and members were blessed with prayers and words of encouragement from Bishop Musa Sono and Bishop Edwards and other pastors. The year has officially begun for the Langlaagte police with God leading the way in this fight against crime,” concluded Kraai.
