Class of 2018 honoured
Coronationville Secondary's Valediction for the Class of 2018.
On October 18, Coronationville Senior Secondary School held a Valediction to honour and wish the Class of 2018 well before they started with their final matric exams.
According to the chairman of the School Governing Body (SGB) Khana Amod the event is an annual one for the school.
The guest speakers at the event were Raymond Martin from the Department of Education, Nokukhanya Tshuma and Misra Seepe who are current learners at the school, Pastor du Plessis, the principal of the school; Floyd Billings and Khana Amod and the school choir got to sing at the function.
The main aim was to basically say farewell to the Grade 12 learners and to also wish them well for the upcoming examinations.

“The aim of the function was also to thank God, to motivate the learners and also to take note of the comparison between the Class of 2017 and the Class of 2018.We had a 97% pass rate with last year’s matriculants and this year our aim is to get to 100% pass rate.
We also had the event to say thank you to the learners’ guardians and everyone who was involved on this long road of the learners’ school going years,” said Amod.
Amod stated that there were learners who have tough lives but the mere fact that they made it all the way to matric shows how strong and dedicated they are. “I mentioned to them that no two people are alike but they going to write the same exam.
They have to achieve, have to set the bar high, God will not change the condition of the people unless they change that that is within themselves.”

“The best of them is the one who learns it and applies it. We thank the educators, the principal, the parents and guardians, we thank the SGB, the Department of Education, all the stakeholders who were instrumental in the learners’ entire school going years.”
“My advice to them was for them to go out there and make a success out of themselves, not to settle for less but rather for the best. For them to come back to Coronationville High and give back to the school, for them to give back to the community,” said Amod.
The SGB concluded by saying that it is not just for Coronationville High learners but to all the learners who are in matric, on behalf of Coronationville Secondary they wish you all the best and remember to aim high.
