The big leagues are beckoning for Cupido

20-year-old Keanu Cupido is making waves in the local soccer world and has everyone in Eldos talking. It was announced yesterday that two junior international football players have been signed to Cape Town City FC and Eldorado Park hopeful made the cut.

The club is based in Cape Town and plays in the premier soccer league. The team was reformed in 2016 by the takeover of the PSL’s now-defunct MP Black Aces franchise.

Cupido, who plays defence and Karabo Ngwenya, who is a striker, have both landed long-term deals with the football club which has to date, completed six new signings ahead of the 2018/19 soccer season.



Both players have graduated from the Diambars Football Academy South Africa, and have represented their country many times before.

Cupido was the captain of the Steven Pienaar tournament winning team- Strokes FC.

Team coach, Nathan Davies, said that he was extremely proud of Cupido’s achievements, “He is doing so well, I couldn’t be more proud. He is setting a good example for youngsters in Eldos. Hard work and discipline always pays off. To God be the glory,” said Davies.


Keanu Cupido (20) signed to play for Cape Town City FC.

“Cupido was among the players who represented the under 17 Bafana Bafana team at the World Cup in Chile Three years ago.” the coach added.

Cupido fans have been supporting the star by uploading photos of the football player on social media.

“This is a great achievement for Eldos as a whole, big ups Cupido, big ups to Eldos,” said Davies.
