Parts of Coronationville without electricity

A mini sub station in Humewood corner Hamilton street, Coronationville has been completely burnt down last night at about 8pm. According to an update from City Power by Councillor Genevieve Sherman, the sub station needs to be replaced  and it was said that City Power were on their way to assess, plan and replace burnt mini substation.

“The fire started at the pole by the spaza shop in Harmony street then caused the DB to overheat and explode. Looks like its totally shot. We need to address this illegal connections with City Power.
“There’s no power in Harmony,Fuel,Oudshoorn,  Glencairn,Caledon and Franklin Street. Any streets within those bordering streets without power. We should hold the squaters responsible for the cost,” said a resident from Coronationville.

According to Joshua Myles, a community leader, City Power is investigating the matter but many residents assume that it’s the overloading of electricity with all the illegal connections from Slovo Informal settlement where despite the blaze and ensuing blackout the music from a shebeen still shattered the silence.
