We will not bow down to drugs in Jesus name!

#Wewillnotbowdown to drugs.

Drugs have been eating at the core of your communities with children as young as eight years old experimenting with the different substances bought on our streets.

Gang violence, prostitution, lolly lounges, and criminal records are all common results from the high rate of drug dealing in our communities.

Organisations start programmes to send addicts to rehabs to recover but unfortunately, there are drug users who have fallen so deep that their own families have given up on them.

The radio station Rainbow FM 90.7 contributed to the fight against drugs in their second Anti- Substance Abuse campaign on May 5.

The contemporary radio station offers listeners on the Westrand a mix of relevant daily lifestyle information with contemporary Christian music.

The radio station can be heard over the entire West Rand Region which includes Roodepoort, the greater Soweto, Randfontein, Krugersdorp, Northcliff, Sandton and Johannesburg central.

Last year people from around Gauteng joined in the march and this year the station promised to have it bigger than last year.

The march kicked off at 9 am, down Goldman street, Florida CBD and ended at the RainbowFM Studios (over 1km). The meeting point was at the Florida Primary School Recreation Field in Kantoor street where the march proceeded orderly and peacefully down Goldman Street, ending with an information Expo at the Rainbow FM premises, 5 Goldman Street, Florida.

Rainbow FM 90.7 partnered with the Florida community unite, for the second time, to march against the scourge of substance abuse in our areas.

The radio station promised to continue to make their voices heard and have adopted the slogan that #wewillnotbowdown until our streets are drug-free. As part of the broader campaign to create awareness, On-Air Workshops were broadcasted from March 30 to May 4.

The focus of the discussions was to be interactive and involved various stakeholders like the Florida Police Station, the Community Police Forum, non-profit organisations, community leaders, social development, and businesses.

Listeners who were former addicts or that liked to share their experiences were also invited to call in and be part of the conversation.

After the successful turnout from listeners, an exhibition was held after the march, this was said to be the highlight of the day by the radio stations marketing team.
