The Ubuntu Pool League heads off to nationals

Well the UPL is looking for sponsors to help the team.

Ubuntu Pool League (UPL) is currently made up of 18 teams and each team has a maximum 15 (registered) players. The league was formed by pool or snooker lovers from different areas such as Soweto, Eldorado Park, Ennerdale, Naturena and Lenasia, who share the same passion for pool and have a common goal to unite all pool players to assist in reaching the full potential.

The League games resume in March and will be played up until December when they have their year-end prize giving ceremony for the teams.

The UPL aims to encourage the youth to stay off harmful drugs, and other illegal substances, to harness their (youth) energies into pool. They motivate the youth to build a bridge amongst different ethnicities, and embracing all diverse religions and cultures and to groom youngsters into future champions, who will wear National Colours and represent South Africa abroad.

The UPL creates alcohol and drug awareness campaigns in our communities, to empower and make our communities to be proud of partaking in the beautiful game of pool.

Like most organisations, people are faced with troubles and challenges. The UPL is faced with challenges such as lack of funding, the teams are subsidized by team-owners, and sometimes teams lack transportation to games.

Unemployed youth are not able to afford team-kits (uniform), insufficient incentives for the two annual tournaments. The UPL is also unable to supply significant year-end prices to the winning teams as well as the inability to contribute towards players (Kit, Fees, Accommodation, Transport) representing Ubuntu at SA Nationals.

So how can you help? Well the UPL is looking for sponsors to help with team uniforms, prizes (for the two tournaments, namely: The Open and Closing tournaments. Kit, Fees, Accommodation and Transport for SA National Championships.

What the UPL has to offer to reciprocate to the sponsors are as follows:

– To name our tournament with the sponsor’s name/brand
– To associate our League’s name with the sponsor’s name/brand
– To create awareness about the sponsor’s products/logo/ brand or seasonal programs/projects
– To publicize the sponsor’s name/brand in our calendar events
– To give mileage to the sponsor’s products/brands through the digital

Social media (Our Website, Facebook, Whatspp and Twitter), print media (community newspapers) and local radio stations like: Eldos FM and Jozi FM in Soweto.
