BREAKING: 22 children & 2 adults injured in collision at Adelaide Tambo [formerly Maraisburg Road]

Two adults from the light motor vehicle and one child from the taxi had sustained serious injuries.

Twenty-four people have been injured this morning, including twenty-two children, when a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on Adelaide Tambo [formerly Maraisburg Road].

ER24 Spokesperson, Russel Meiring said, “ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find a taxi in the middle of the road while a light motor vehicle was found on the pavement between two trees.

Meiring said community and CPF members had already begun to extricate the children from the taxi.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two adults from the light motor vehicle and one child from the taxi had sustained serious injuries.

“Twenty-one other children from the taxi had sustained minor to moderate injuries,” said Meiring.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided pain-relief medication to the seriously injured before they were transported to various private and provincial hospitals for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

ER24 would like to thank the CPF and community members who assisted the children on the scene.
