Wheel Well buckles up after big donation

Murray Booth of Cuddlers, handed over R17 500 to Peggie Mars of Wheel Well to celebrate National Children's Day.

In recognition of children around South Africa, Cuddlers made a R17 500 donation to Wheel Well, a unique organisation that focuses on road and child safety.

The donation was made after Devland based Cuddlers made a plea on social media – pledging to donate R5 for every like and share their National Children’s Day post received on 4 & 5 November.

Murray Booth, head of marketing at Cuddlers, said making the donation to Wheel Well was a logical choice.

“I have young children in car seats, and am passionate about child safety, especially around transportation. After following Wheel Well’s posts on social media for some time and recognising the work they do, and what they have been able to achieve, getting involved was the natural step forward.”

Booth said that Cuddlers was a brand that took caring for parents and children a step further than just supplying nappies.

“Our brand line is ‘Caring for Baby, Caring for You’. Wheel Well and the work they do, speaks to the heart of our brand and we are thrilled that we were able to make a contribution to the amazing work they do.”
Booth said that while Cuddlers wrote the cheque, it was the Cuddlers community who made the donation possible.

“The response we received from our online following was amazing. The engagement and support from community members around the country was overwhelming.

“This donation is made on behalf of everyone who supported the call to raise awareness for Wheel Well by tagging a friend or sharing and liking the post – they are the ones who have made today possible.”

Peggie Mars of Wheel Well, which is based in Randburg, said she was overwhelmed when Booth called her suggesting the post.

“It is a call like yours that make our days’ lucky packets end with the best surprises. Thank you so much for thinking of us,” she told Booth at the time.

“I am just beyond words and in complete awe! Thank you so much. Your followers are amazing. I have read some of the comments and the goodwill expressed was wonderful to read.”

Mars said she was completely speechless after being contacted by Cuddlers and told what the final tally was.

“Our dream is to get every child, in every car, into a car seat. This donation is definitely going to assist us in eventually reaching that dream.”

The R17 500 donation will be used to continue to Wheel Well campaign of getting children into car seats across South Africa.
