Heritage Day weekend with Lil Choices

Seniors were treated to an entertaining Heritage Day weekend as Lil Choices hosted their Braai Day fundraiser.

On September 23, Lil Choices hosted a Braai Day and fundraising event for the seniors of Florida, the Frederic Place Old Age Home in Coronationville and the surrounding communities.

The non-profit organisation, which registered in 2013, provides pregnant pre-teen and teenage girls with a safe alternative to abortion and infant abandonment.

Based in Roodepoort, Lil Choices provides vulnerable women with a safe haven to securely navigate their pregnancy.

Brand ambassador, Omar Lagardien and Lil Choices founder, Rae Bagus.

A total of 80 seniors attended the fundraiser.
Guests were treated to an afternoon of musical entertainment, neighbourly company and braaivleis with a special performance by South African entertainer, Granville Michaels.

“Lil Choices feels that once a year we need to give back. So now, we’re giving back to the seniors,” said Rae Bagus, founder and director.

Each senior enjoyed a complimentary braai pack, followed by a serving of tea and cake and lastly, ice cream.

“We decided to have a braai day so that people can come and spend time with their family during Heritage Day weekend, but essentially the goal at the end of today is just to raise money for our organisation,” said Zahirah Bagus, youth brand ambassador.

“We are trying to give back to the community in the sense that, we are asking, but we also want to give,” she continued.

Lil Choices made a further contribution by donating 120 braai packs to seniors across Klipspruit and Nancefield.

“It’s just our way of saying thank you to everyone, and the best way to say thank you is by giving back to the elderly and the underprivileged,” said Rae.

Guests were treated to an afternoon of musical entertainment and braaivleis.

The event was also open to other members of the community who wanted to support the fundraiser by purchasing a braai pack.

In total, over 200 seniors and members of the community were fed by the braai pack donations of Lil Choices this Heritage Day weekend.
