The 12th edition of the annual Jazz Festival was named differently and became formally known as the Eldos Jazz Cookout.
For the first time ever, the festival was a paying event and according to event organiser, Netesha Armien, this year it was poorly supported.
She said, “If the event was a free event, it would have had a much better turn-out.”
“The Arts Alive budget was cut by 20Â percent, because of this, the grant funding from Arts Alive was also reduced which led to the decision to make it a paid event in order to cover the costs of hosting the event.”
Armien said that their main focus from here on out would be the Arts Festival. She said, “We are going to now focus our energy and time on the arts festival and the development of it.”

“To the youth team who were in training, I would just like to thank and congratulate the crew that made the Eldos Arts and Jazz Festival possible.
“There is a big possibility that the Eldos Jazz free concert will be no more. The costs are too high for it to be a free concert and after the poor support from the community, I asked myself if it was worth bringing a free festival to Eldorado Park,” she said.
“To the supporters who showed an interest in the Eldos Arts week and the jazz fest cookout, we say thank you,” said the event organisers.
“According to Armien, the word on the street is that there are people who feel that they could host a better festival. She said, “I welcome them to organise a free festival for Eldorado Park.”
