A musician with a Xitsonga taste

Maluleke releases eleventh album.

A well-known Xitsonga musician, Hasani Eckson Maluleke who is originally from Xigamana in Malamulele, has recently released an album titled ‘I Merry’ (Merriam).

The album title speaks about a man who worked in a mine and his wife worked as a domestic worker.

He then lost his job and returned back home.

Despite his wife, the man had an affair with other women during his time working in the mines.

After his return, he then bought a donkey and asked his wife to give it a name.

The donkey was named Merry, a name belonging to the man’s former lover.

Maluleke said” In this scenario the wife knew about the affairs her husband had.

“The album teaches listeners about forgiveness and giving people second chances in life.

“People should always learn to forgive one another to grow their families or their relationship of understanding.

Most of the tracks in this album have already received air play at Munghana Lonene FM.

Maluleke has managed to release 10 albums before.

On this album he has worked with Prince Baloyi, Simon Mathebula, Evans Mabasa and Snombelani Sisters who did the back-ups.

“The support has been wonderful almost at every album I happened to release.

In 2005, Maluleke formed a group called Snombelani Sisters.

Eight albums were released by the group since formed.

He said the reason for forming the group was to allow female singers to share their thoughts in response to what men say about them on record.

Their next album is due December 16.
