The arts came alive in Eldos

The Eldos Arts Alive campaign, Phase One, officially ended on September 9, with a mind-blowing dance explosion to close off the multi-talented arts festival.

The theatrical piece, Time Travel was staged at the Don Mateman Hall on September 5 as part of the lineup in this year’s Eldos Arts and Jazz Festival.

Time Travel starred Elizabeth Ross in the role India, Cassandra Benjamin as Joan, Shandre Thomas as Janice, Lincoln Kyzar as Ernie, and Kelvin Malatsi as Larry.

The ensemble also featured a group of backup dancers and featuring actors which added to the glitzy theatrical affair.

The piece was written by Keshia Maconi and directed by Raeez Jacobs for the arts festival. “I’m very glad we could bring theatre of this kind to the community.”

“Theatre of this caliber is important because of its cultural value,” Jacobs said. He added that the only hope is that more and more people find a common interest in theatre, so that next year even more people can attend and benefit from the production.

Jesse Maart, project coordinator of the Gwara battle said, “The Gwara Battle was a success. People came out to support us, which was admirable.

The contestants were kids who have never been on stage performing in front of huge crowds. The purpose of the Arts and Jazz Festival is for young aspiring artists to showcase their talents in front of the masses. Platforms such as the Eldos Arts Festival are the correct stages of development and in a way personal growth.”

Having Goliath and Goliath added value to the evening and encouraged the young contestants.”
Among the other events, were a Langarm Toasties as well as Fashion Infusion.

Now that the arts festival is closed off, everyone is waiting in anticipation of September 24, when the Eldos Jazz Festival which will be taking place at the grounds in Extension Six Eldorado Park. See you there!
