No pain, no gain in the world of rugby

Rugby looks like a very dangerous

For many people, rugby looks like a very dangerous, heavy contact sport. Well, they’re not wrong, but Jesse Maart’s inspirational and hardworking efforts towards growing the sport in Eldorado Park changed that mindset for many.

After being asked what they would like to do with rugby, Eldomaine Secondary School learners had this to say:

It is evident that Maart has made a difference in the way the youth looks at rugby.

Gangazha also added that rugby was not for the fainthearted and that it took heart to be able to play the game at your best.

Maart said that he started coaching March this year and added, “I currently coach at Eldomaine Secondary and Goud Park Primary Schools.”

Sports is not just about playing the game to have fun, it also includes tactics and requires a focused mind.

“If the kids I teach can learn how to love a sport and its rules then I have achieved a lot. This is in order to maintain a consistent culture of rugby in my community. Keeping sport alive will sway the youth’s focus away from drugs,” Maart said.

Unlike many others, Maart has bigger dreams for his ultimate achievement, which is to become a sports manager. He said, “I’m in the process of studying sports management and envision running Eldoronians Rugby Club in the near future.”

That only makes it clear that Maart has a vision for the rugby community in Eldorado Park and this vision goes hand in hand with his motto which is, “My life is not controlled by feelings but by purpose.”
