Eldos: ‘We want to help those in need’

“We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

Rodney’s Family to Family Foundation is charity drive that was founded in January this year. The foundation’s main goals are to give back, to help and to spread the love of God in the community of Eldorado Park and its surrounding areas.

“There are people in Eldorado Park who are really struggling, I feel for them. That is why my daughters and I started this foundation. We want to help those in need.” said Rita Manual, the founder.

Due to the unemployment rate in Eldorado Park, many parents are unable to provide a decent meal for their children.

The foundation has strategically chosen so that food can be provided to the needy. The foundation also hosts toiletry drives to those who cannot afford to buy their own.

They hosted another successful feeding scheme in the Eldorado Park Extension Eight park on August 12. The event started off with praise and worship.

Friends and family members of the foundation sang songs with the many children who came to be a part of the feeding scheme. The children were given a home-cooked meal and juice.

Many stayed behind to eat their meal with their friends in the park but some took the meal home to share with their siblings at home.

“We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We acknowledge him and know that He is present in our lives,” said Kim Bloemstein, a founding member.

The foundation has hopes of opening a centre that would be a central place to those who are in need. They have been funding themselves, with family and friends providing donations. Their next event will be held on September 23.
