Eldos: Petty crime does not pay

Crime doesn't pay and has no place in society.

A lot of the times it seems like nobody really considers the consequences of petty crime. It’s actually quite simple to snatch someone’s wallet or phone without them noticing.

Essentially, it is wrong and it may seem hard to believe that stealing someone’s phone would have such a huge impact on a life.

For simply stealing a phone, a 23-year-old woman was arrested in Eldorado Park. It is alleged that she stole the cell phone out a bag placed inside a pram.

The theft occurred while the victim was in the consulting room at the clinic. A preliminary investigation was conducted, which led to the arrest of the woman who was detained at the Eldorado Park Police Station holding cells.

In an unrelated incident, a fraudster was nabbed in Eldorado Park following a tip-off to police from residents. The 40-year-old woman was found to be in possession of an undisclosed number of South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) cards, easy cards, bank cards and other documents.

She allegedly withdrew money using these cards without the consent of the rightful owners. Police dispatched to the scene, placed her under arrest and, according to communications officer, captain Phillemon Khorombi, the suspected thief will appear in court as soon as possible, once the investigation is wound up.

A 50-year-old suspect was arrested for committing a burglary at a business premises, which in this case, turned out to be a church.

It is alleged that the suspect broke into the church and stole electrical appliances as well as other items. Police, acting on a tip-off from residents, arrested the man who is due to appear in court on charges of burglary.
