5 suspects arrested in Florida this morning for business robbery

Florida SAPS arrested five suspects, between the ages of 40 and 50, for business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms at Maraisburg, Florida this morning at approximately 8:30.

Police officers entered a shop at Albertina Sisulu Road in Maraisburg, only to find that there was a business robbery in progress.

Inside the shop, there were three shop owners and about six customers that were held at gunpoint by the robbers.

It is alleged that on seeing the police, the suspects started shooting at the police who returned fire. One of the suspects was shot and injured.

He was taken to hospital under police guard and the other four suspects were arrested on the spot.

It is suspected that more suspects might have escaped in a getaway car.

Police have opened a case of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms for investigation.

The arrested suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court in due course.
