Thieves target councillors’ offices, Eldo’s

Thieves steal files amongst other items.

The morning of November 23 would prove to be a disheartening day for Wards 17 and 18 councillors Peter Rafferty and Fazel Jaffer.

Burglars had accessed their offices by removing roof tiles and carting away two Lenovo computers, a printer, kettle, heater and various files used at the office.

This latest incident is symptomatic of the impudence criminals are displaying in Eldorado Park that even the councillors’ offices are vulnerable to attack from this segment of the community.

Many believe that the escalating drug abuse in the community lies at the heart of this crime and Eldorado Park police communications officer captain Phillemon Khorombi has once again urged residents to desist from the buying of stolen goods.

Khorombi believes that this practice creates a market for thieves and promotes crime in the area. Rafferty can be heard below denouncing this act of thievery and asking residents to be on the lookout for anyone selling these items.
