Eldos Park Primary project to be handed over

“We will make sure that not only the pupils but the greater community will have the maximum socio-economic benefits from this amazing project.”

Klipstone Transport with Unitrans and AfriSam announced intentions to donate a kitchen, two vegetable tunnels, bulk rainwater storage tanks, a junior driving school and educational materials at Eldorado Park Primary.

The launch of this project was on Mandela Day and was completed by end of last month.

Klipstone Transport has assigned Acorn Foundation as their Corporate Social Investment representatives in a bid to provide the school with a sustainable food solution and education.

In order to achieve this, pupils will not only be taught how to plant and grow the vegetables, but there will also be a kitchen built to provide for the feeding scheme that 700 of the children are dependent on.

Director Roy Padayachee said: “Food security and education is about sustainability. That’s why Klipstone Transport and its staff have committed themselves to the project in order to have an all-around community impact.”

CEO of Acorn Foundation, Rudy Joles said: “Collectively, we will make sure that not only the pupils but the greater community will have the maximum socio-economic benefits from this amazing project.”

With a vested interest in monitoring and sustainability, Klipstone and Acorn Foundation will be offering continued efforts in the project.

One of these initiatives involves a long-term solution for their feeding scheme, which is a kitchen.

The kitchen will not only help with the feeding scheme but will also provide employment to the children’s parents building the kitchen structure by building the bricks on site which lowers the carbon footprint as there is no transportation required.

Going forward some of the mothers will work in the kitchen.

The kitchen will also have a vertical garden which we will be planting herbs in which will supply the kids with the minerals and vitamins they need.

The handover ceremony will be held at the school on October 11.

The event will start at 10am.
