Man in coma for a year at his house

Man sent home after doctors could not do anything for him.

Moegamat Yasien Davids has been in a coma for a year at his home in Coronationville.

According to his wife Rukaya Davids he got a stroke in 2014 and has since not recovered from the stroke.

“He was in hospital for four months from September until December 2014 at Milpark Hospital.

“Doctors at the hospital then discharged him saying that there is nothing they can do for him as his situation was deteriorating.

“My children and I have been caring for him since his discharge date and it has been a difficult time because of the costs related to his care,” said Rukaya.

Daughter Raeesa Davids Matthews and her husband Mieftaagudien Matthews said the cost of private nurses and his medication has been a problem for the family.

“We pay almost R10 000 for the professional nurses to care for him, R800 for his insulin medication and his food costs R500.

“If God wanted to take him he would’ve done so and as a family we feel that he needs the necessary care,” said Raeesa.

The family would also like to thank nursing sisters Nozipho Ngwenyama, Santo Tsiba and Dineo Lesala for their service.

“We sometimes do not have the money to pay the nurses on time but they have left their jobs to assist us full time.

“We are so grateful for their time and patience towards my husband,” said Rukaya.

According to hospital records supplied by reception at Milpark Hospital the patient had a severe stroke and was discharged because of no improvement towards his health.

“We are pleading to anyone from the community for assistance in any way.

“My family needs their father and any assistance would be highly appreciated,” said Rukaya.
