Parents to make use of ECD bus

Buses introduced for children whose parents cannot afford to send them to creche.

Parents are urged to make use of the Early Childhood Development buses that are there for the benefit of children.

“These buses are for children up to five-years-old whose parents can’t afford to send them to crèche,” Shaune Lee, regional coordinator said.

The bus is manned with qualified teachers, assistants and a principal who educate children like at any other crèche.

The bus spends three hours at a site but receive very little children to take care of.

“At some sites we only have four children,” Lee said.

She encourages parents to take their children to the buses if it is in their area.

The bus services Kliptown, Slovo Park, Freedom Park, Extension Four and Kersie Dorp.

The bus can be found at the following sites and times:

  • Mandela Square Monday morning from 8am and Wednesday afternoon from 1pm
  • Slovo Park (community hall) Monday afternoon from 1pm and Friday morning from 8am
  • Freedom Park (Zodiac Circle) Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon from 1pm
  • Extension Four (Opposite Lance Vale High School) Thursday morning from 8am and Tuesday afternoon from 1pm
  • Kersie Dorp (at the stadium) Wednesday morning from 8am and Friday afternoon from 1pm

Parents are also requested to arrange groups of children in order for the bus to come to your area.

Once groups are arranged, Lee can be reached on 079 190 5211.

The success of the ECD bus in Eldorado Park has grown and now services five other communities.

Children attend at no cost and are fed.
